Additional of content in new syllabus – CA Foundation

ICAI added some content in CA Foundation new syllabus. The additional topics introduced in the respective papers of CA Foundation aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of various aspects of accountancy, business laws, and economics. Let’s briefly explain the additional topics mentioned:

Paper 1. Accountancy:

  • Accounting Terminology – Glossary: This involves familiarizing students with key accounting terms and concepts, ensuring they have a strong foundation in accounting language and principles.
  • Indian Accounting Standards – Concepts and Objectives: This topic focuses on the principles and objectives of Indian Accounting Standards, providing insight into the accounting framework used in India.
  • Sale of Goods on Approval or Return Basis: Understanding the accounting treatment and legal aspects of sales where goods are supplied on approval or return basis.
  • Consignments: This covers the accounting treatment and procedures related to consignment transactions.
  • Average Due Date: Explains the concept of determining the average due date for multiple payments or receipts.
  • Account Current: Covers the concept and preparation of account current, which is a statement summarizing financial transactions between parties.

Paper 2. Business Laws:

  • Indian Regulatory Framework: This topic delves into the major regulatory bodies and authorities in India that govern various aspects of business, including finance, corporate affairs, securities, and more.
  • Negotiable Instruments Act 1881: Covers the key provisions and principles of the Negotiable Instruments Act, which governs negotiable instruments such as promissory notes, bills of exchange, and cheques.

Paper 4. Business Economics:

  • Price – Output Determination Under Different Market Forms: Discusses how prices and output levels are determined in different market structures, such as perfect competition, monopoly, and monopolistic competition.
  • Public Finance: Explores the fiscal functions of the government, including sources of revenue, expenditure management, public debt, and fiscal policy.
  • Money Market: Focuses on the concept of the money market, demand for money, various theories of money demand, money supply, monetary policy, and related topics.
  • International Trade: Covers theories of international trade, trade policies, exchange rates, and the economic effects of international trade and capital movements.
  • Indian Economy: Offers an overview of the Indian economy’s historical development and key economic events, including economic reforms post-1991.
  • Determination of National Income: Explains how national income is calculated and measured, including various models and concepts used in determining the national income of a country.
