Direct Entry to CMA Course: Eligibility and Application Process

The CMA Inter Direct Entry Scheme provides an alternative pathway for students to register for the CMA Inter Course. Under this route, students are exempted from taking the CMA Foundation Exams. Consequently, direct entry CMA students are required to complete only two levels of the CMA Exam, namely CMA Inter and CMA Final.

CMA Inter Direct Entry Registration Process

To register for the CMA Inter Direct Entry under the Syllabus 2022, candidates can follow the steps below:

  • Step 1: Visit icmai.in and click on the “Students” tab visible on the menubar.
  • Step 2: Navigate to the “Admission” section on the menu bar.
  • Step 3: Select the option “Online admission” displayed on the left side of the admission page.
  • Step 4: Click on “Apply for Intermediate Course”. Note that applications for the CMA Inter December 2023 exam are currently open.
  • Step 5: Generate an OTP by entering the required information for CMA Inter 2023 registration.
  • Step 6: Log in using the CMA Intermediate credentials and proceed to fill out the CMA Inter application form for 2023. Verify the information and click on ‘Save and Next’.
  • Step 7: Upload the necessary documents.
  • Step 8: Complete the payment process. The fees must be paid based on the coaching type (oral or postal) selected. Once the CMA Intermediate registration fee is paid successfully, a confirmation receipt will be generated. It is advisable to keep a copy of the receipt for future reference.

Note:

  • To be eligible for appearing in Intermediate examinations, the 2nd Installment amounting to ₹ 11,100/- must be payable on or before 31st January for June term and 31st July for December term of examinations.
  • If the student fails to pay the 2nd installment within the prescribed time limit, the installment facility will be still available till the next 3 consecutive terms. The 2nd installment is to be paid within the cutoff dates.
  • No student can appear for Intermediate examination without paying the 2nd installment.
  • Failure to pay the 2nd installment within the prescribed time limits will lead to forfeiture of the amount already paid as the 1st Installment.
  • After paying the 1st installment, the student will get study materials of both groups and can opt for oral/postal coaching of either Group (Group I/II) for Intermediate as per the choice of the student.
  • After paying the 2nd Installment, the student will be eligible to opt for oral/postal coaching of the remaining group and ‘Skills Training’ and other training as applicable.
  • This fee also includes the amount for CMA Intermediate Books published by ICMAI, which will be delivered to the students on the address entered during CMA Intermediate registration. The registration for CMA Intermediate is valid for 7 years.
Provisional Registration

Persons who have appeared in a degree examination and are awaiting result may apply for provisional registration in the prescribed form. They should submit the pass result within the prescribed time periods from the date/period of 18 (eighteen) months from the date of such Provisional Registration in the Institute. Failure to submit the pass result within the prescribed time limit tantamount to cancellation of the provisional registration and forfeiture of the registration and tuition fee paid. Subject Exemption Scheme for CMA Inter Course

  1. Reciprocal Exemption under Syllabus 2022 based on ICSI Qualification:
    • The process for Reciprocal Exemption under Syllabus 2022 based on ICSI Qualification is currently underway.
    • Candidates who have obtained exemption in a paper or papers of a Stage of Intermediate examination by virtue of passing a Group/Stage or earning exemption in individual paper/s under any Syllabus prior to Syllabus 2022 are eligible.

  2. Exemption for Engineers/Equivalent under Syllabus 2022:
    • Refer to the ICMAI official website – student section for specific details on exemptions for Engineers or equivalent qualifications.
  3. Exemption for LLB Qualified under Syllabus 2022:
    • LLB qualified individuals can check for exemption details on the ICMAI official website – student section.
  4. Exemption for ACCA – U.K Qualified Students under Syllabus 2016:
    • ACCA-UK qualified students who obtained exemption under Syllabus 2016 are eligible for subject exemption in corresponding papers under Syllabus 2022 as per the MOU for Syllabus 2016.

  5. Application for Qualification-Based Subject Exemption:

CMA Inter Direct Entry Course Student Journey

The CMA Inter Direct Entry Route caters to two categories of students, each with a distinct academic background:

Category 1 – Graduates/Post Graduates:
  1. Eligibility Check:
    • Ensure completion of graduation or post-graduation from a recognized university.
    • Verify that the minimum qualifying marks criteria are met.
  2. Provisional Registration:
    • Apply for provisional registration for the CMA Inter course.
  3. Commencement of Training:
    • Start practical training after provisional registration.
  4. Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (ICITSS):
    • Complete the ICITSS, which includes the Orientation Program and Information Technology course.
  5. CMA Inter Registration:
    • After completing ICITSS, proceed to register for the CMA Inter course.
  6. Practical Training Continues:
    • Continue with the remaining practical training.
  7. Examination Appearance:
    • Become eligible to appear for the CMA Inter exams after completing nine months of practical training.
Category 2 – CA or CS Intermediate Qualified:
  1. Eligibility Check:
    • Verify successful completion of CA or CS Intermediate exams.
  2. ICITSS Completion:
    • Complete the ICITSS, including the Orientation Program and Information Technology course.
  3. Provisional Registration:
    • Apply for provisional registration for the CMA Inter course.
  4. Practical Training:
    • Start practical training after provisional registration.
  5. CMA Inter Registration:
    • Register for the CMA Inter course.
  6. Remaining Practical Training:
    • Complete the remaining practical training.
  7. Examination Appearance:
    • Become eligible to appear for the CMA Inter exams after completing nine months of practical training.
