CUET UG Exam 2024 Overview

CUET UG is a University Entrance Test for admissions into more than 250 central and private universities in total across the country into undergraduate courses. The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the CUET exam once a year in an online computer-based MCQ mode. The CUET exam negates the difference in marking schemes and difficulty levels of various Boards. Now, the candidates do not have to compete in the high cut-offs of various top universities based on their Board results.

CUET Full Form

CUET stands for Common Universities Entrance Test. It is a national-level entrance exam held annually by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The purpose of CUET is to facilitate admission into undergraduate courses in participating universities/institutes across the country. The exam is conducted in online mode and consists entirely of objective-type questions. Candidates use the scorecard issued along with the result for admission to the CUET participating universities.

Background of CUET UG Exam

The NTA initiated the CUET UG exam in 2022 to provide a common platform and equal opportunities to all candidates across the country. The exam is taking in 13 languages, including Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

UG 2024 Exam Latest Updates

Candidates who have not yet applied for the CUET UG exam 2024 can apply for it up to today, which is 5th April 2024. After this date, the application forms will not be accepted under any circumstance. This is a great opportunity for those candidates who have not yet filled the forms. The correction of the application forms will be activated on 6th and 7th April 2024.

CUET UG 2024 Exam Updates

  • Addition of New Subjects: Two new papers, Fashion Studies and Tourism, are being added to the CUET exam 2024 to promote skill subjects. Candidates who have already filled the CUET application form can also add these subjects during the correction period, with an additional fee for selecting more subjects.
  • Application Form Deadline Extension: The last date to fill the CUET UG form has been extended to 26th March 2024.
  • Exam Dates: The CUET UG exam is scheduled to be held from 15th to 31st May 2024.
  • Admission Eligibility: Candidates who fill out the CUET application form and qualify the exam with good scores will be eligible for admission to various undergraduate programmes offered by participating central and state universities across the country.
  • Important Dates:

Latest Updates on CUET PG 2024 Exam

The phase 3 exam for CUET PG 2024 released the admit card on 7th March 2024. The CUET PG exam took place from 21st to 28th March 2024. The answer key for the exam is expected to be released soon.

NTA has activated the CUET UG registration 2024 form on its website Candidates must first register on the website and then complete the application procedure to successfully submit the CUET application form for UG courses in over 90 participating universities.

How to Fill Application Form?

To fill the CUET 2024 application form, follow these steps:

  1. Visit to register for the CUET 2024 exam.
  2. Fill out the details in the CUET registration form 2024 by entering your basic details.
  3. Once registered, use the login credentials received on your email and mobile number to access the application form.
  4. Fill in all the required details in the application form.
  5. Upload scanned copies of your recent photograph and signature.
  6. Pay the required application fee.

CUET Application Fee

The application fee for the CUET 2024 exam varies based on the number of subjects chosen by the candidate. Here are the details:

  • Up to 3 Subjects Opted:
    • General: Rs. 1000
    • OBC/EWS: Rs. 900
    • SC/ST/PwD: Rs. 800
  • For Each Additional Subject:

2024 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria to apply for CUET 2024:

  • Must have passed or appeared in Class 12 examination.
  • For B.Tech course, must have secured at least 45% (General) and 40% (Reserved categories) in Class 12.
  • General category candidates should have secured at least 50% in Class 12, while SC/ST candidates must have secured at least 45%.
  • There is no age limit for applying, but candidates must meet the age limit criteria (if any) of the University/Institution/Organization they are applying to.

CUET 2024 Exam Pattern

The CUET exam pattern is as follows:

  • Section 1A – Languages: Candidates can choose from 13 different languages. They need to attempt 40 questions out of 50.
  • Section 1B – Language: Candidates can choose from 20 languages. They need to attempt 40 questions out of 50.
  • Section 2 – Domain: There are 27 domain-specific subjects offered. Candidates can choose any subject as desired by the applicable University. They need to attempt 35/40 questions out of 45/50.
  • Section 3 – General Test:

    This section uses a general test for admission to undergraduate programs. Candidates need to attempt 50 questions out of 60.
