About CMA Foundation

The CMA Foundation exam is the entry-level examination for the Cost and Management Accountancy (CMA) course, which is conducted by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI). It comprises four papers covering fundamental topics in accounting, economics, law, and management. Passing the CMA Foundation exam is a prerequisite for pursuing the intermediate and final levels of the CMA course.

CMA Registration Process (New Scheme)

Visit the ICMAI Website:
Go to the official website of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI).
Click on the ‘Students’ Tab:
Navigate to the ‘Students’ tab on the website’s homepage.
Select ‘Course Registration’:
Under the ‘Students’ tab, select the ‘Course Registration’ option.
Choose the ‘Foundation’ Course:
From the list of courses, choose the ‘Foundation’ course.
Fill in the Registration Form:
Fill in the registration form with all the required details, such as name, address, educational qualifications, etc.
Upload Required Documents:
Upload scanned copies of the following documents:

CMA Foundation Examination Pattern

Subjects and Type of Exam:
All papers are objective type questions.
Negative Marking:
There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
Mode of Examination:
The examination is conducted in online mode (computer-based test).
Duration:
The duration of each paper is three hours.
Number of Papers:
There are four papers in total.

Total Marks:
Each paper is of 100 marks, making the total marks for the examination 400.
Passing Criteria:
To pass the CMA Foundation exam, candidates must score a minimum of 40% marks in each paper and an aggregate of 50% marks in all papers combined.
Examination Frequency:
The CMA Foundation exam is conducted twice a year, in June and December.
